MissElenious. Nope, I didn’t misspell, although at a certain point in my life the nickname did mix me up a bit. As a kid, my grandmother came up with the name for my wild and eclectic self as a play on miscellaneous. Needless to say when I got to second grade and saw our homework boxes labeled Math, Science, Spelling and Miscellaneous (I had no idea what that word meant let alone how to actually spell it), I obviously knew my teacher thought I was as special as Grandma Cile did to give me MY OWN box. Thankfully and embarrassingly, that misunderstanding was quickly rectified but I still claimed MissElenious as my own.
I’ve always had a passion for expressing my creativity – from making and selling beaded friendship bracelets outside the local grocery store as a kid to the stick figures I drew in art class thinking I was Picasso, I could never shake the peace I felt when crafting and creating.
Fast forward twenty years and I found myself continuously altering and remaking store-bought jewelry. Sometimes, I didn’t quite like the design; other times, cheap materials irritated my skin. I found that gold-filled chain and materials were affordable and, for the most part, hypoallergenic. After compliments and requests from friends to make pieces for them, I decided to launch MissElenious Handmade Jewelry in March of 2015.
My original need to create jewelry that I could wear turned into a heartfelt passion. Drawing inspiration from trend-setting friends, fashion, the beauty of nature and interactions with inspiring people, I create pieces that can compliment an outfit any time of day or night. It is important to me to craft unique pieces that can stand the test of time and with the use of mostly gold-filled components, my jewelry is ideal for those with skin sensitivities and allergies as gold-filled materials contain 100x more gold than vermeil or plate.
MissElenious Jewelry is meant to add an extra sparkle to compliment YOU. The fulfilling moment of letting my creativity flow into a tangible piece of wearable art is only surpassed when something I've created invokes a feeling of beauty in you. That is priceless.
